Boat Handling, Diver Coxswain Courses
RYA & BSAC Diver Coxswain Boat courses now available
There's been a number of requests for boat handling courses prior to the start of the 2008 season. We are pleased to announce that as from the end of February, we will be now running RYA Level 1 & 2 courses as well as BSAC boat handling and skill development courses for boaters and diving enthusiasts. Dates will follow shortly but in brief the courses will consist of two days, with course and accommodation packages available. Both courses are pretty much practical based with only a small section conducted in the classroom. This practical hands on approach is designed to give the student more realistic experience of being out on the water. Watch this space.
Craig & Neil Cruise through Advanced powerboat commercial exam
Craig and Neil A.K.A. 'Batman', passed their advanced powerboat commercial endorsement exam last Friday by completing succesful night passages through the Menai Straits. They both had to show exceptional boat handling skills, a thorough knowledge of pilotage and a strong sense of seamanship to the RYA examiner. Everything went smoothly except for a heated debate about an East Cardinal mark ! For the record, Neil snores like a pig too so be weary if you have to bunk in with him. Ear plugs are essential.
The Gang survive sea survival
Several WWDC staff members travelled to North Wales to complete the Basic Sea Survival course. Ceri, Dave H, Batman, Katie and Jason A.K.A. No.2, successfully passed the one day course which included capsize drills, lifeboat exercises and lectures. The sea survival course is a pre-requesite for Powerboat level 2 commercial endoresement, so watch out for the new faces skippering the boat this season !
